About this event

All welcome! No previous bushcare experience needed, just come along – the Sir Joseph Banks Park Bushcare group meets near the light tower opposite Folkstone Parade and the Esplanade, Botany.

Bushcare volunteers play a crucial role in the protection and enhancement of bushland in the Bayside area.

As a bushcare volunteer you’ll;

  • learn how to tell the difference between weeds and native plants
  • plant trees and other native plants
  •
learn about local wildlife and environmental issues
  •
get to know and love your own patch of bushland and see it improve over time
  • get to know other bushcarers and
  • get some exercise

When you come to bushcare please wear long trousers, long sleeved shirt, covered shoes (some kind of boots are best) and a hat. You may find gardeners’ knee pads or a kneeling pad are useful as well.

Please also bring your own (large) water bottle and your own cup for morning tea.
We will provide hand sanitiser, sunscreen, a set of tools, gloves and morning tea.

To help prevent the spread of infection, please do not come to bushcare if you are unwell.

For more information about our Bushcare Program please call our Environment Officer on 9562 1615 or email madeline.hourihan@bayside.nsw.gov.au
