🦉 Australian Wildlife Week is a time to celebrate and learn about the incredible wildlife that makes Australia so unique. This year, it will run from Tuesday, 1 October, to Sunday, 6 October 2024.
Australia is a haven for unique wildlife—over 80% of our mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and plants can’t be found anywhere else in the world. But life isn’t easy for them, especially during the warmer spring months, often referred to as **“Trauma Season.”**
From September to April, the number of animals needing urgent help nearly triples. During these warmer months, animals are on the move—searching for water, mates, and new homes, while young ones try to make their way on their own for the first time.
Unfortunately, with cities expanding and natural spaces shrinking, many of these animals are forced to cross busy roads and dangerous areas to find what they need, putting them at high risk of injury or even death.
🐾That’s why Australian Wildlife Week is so important—it’s a reminder for us all to keep an eye out for our native wildlife, support conservation efforts, and help make sure these incredible species have a safe future.
