About this event
Night Calling is an excellent film with a powerful message
Featured film – Night calling – Discover how the Yornitj, the masked owl inspired Australia’s first owl friendly community in Margaret River. How did Australia’s first ‘Owl friendly’ community come together to protect wildlife in their area from rodenticide poisoning. This is a moving story of passion, loss and determination, with inspiration on how to support healthy habitats in your own backyard.
We will also follow Night Calling with two short films, Rodenticides unmasked and How to be Owl friendly. All three of these wonderful films help pull together important elements on how to look after our birdlife, especially owls and other carnivorous birds, and explore how they are impacted by elements we may not consider harmful in our day-to-day practices.
Following the films, we will be joined by Dr Holly Parsons from Birdlife Australia and WIRES rep Penny Walsh for the panel discussion.
We look forward to seeing you at this screening of Night Calling.
If you are interested in any other birdy events, we will be running a birdy breakfast on Saturday, 25 October at Bong Bong Common and the annual Aussie Bird Count takes place from 20 and 26 of October. More details and bookings will be available soon.
