About this event

This is your once-yearly opportunity to attend our annual hive split for our beautiful sugarbag bees.

Bee astounded as you get a glimpse of the intricate internal structure of the hive and see if you can spot the pollen, nectar and larval chambers. We will even have an opportunity to sample a small amount of their very uniquely flavoured honey!

Our hive splitting will be followed by a guided walk through the local bushland where we will attempt to spot some of our local solitary bee species and discuss the vital role these pollinators play. Get buzzy booking in for this exclusive experience!

Must be able to walk for up to 1hr, moderate fitness level. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Recommended – sun protection, long sleeved shirt and pants, insect repellent, water and snacks.

Ages 16 +.

The Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, set across 123 hectares of unique urban bushland and home to two endangered ecological communities as well as 18 threatened species of flora and fauna. The Wildflower Garden is open to the public all year round and has a range of hikes, step-free walking tracks, picnic areas and heritage venue hire as well as a diverse calendar of environmental education programs.
