NAIDOC week 2026: free Audley event

Celebrate Aboriginal culture and heritage at a free NAIDOC week event on 7 July 2026 at Ironbark Flat picnic area in Audley. Join us for a day of family-friendly activities in beautiful Royal National Park. This family friendly event will celebrate Aboriginal culture and heritage with a range of activities and presentations guided by NPWS staff and special guests. Gather outside the Royal National Park Visitor Centre at Audley to start the day with a special Welcome to Country by Uncle Dean Kelly. You’ll be guided through activities, workshops and presentations about this year’s NAIDOC week theme which is ’50 Years of Deadly’. Learn about local Aboriginal totems, artefacts, and bush tucker. Try your hand at traditional weaving. Hear stories from our team about working in national parks and the unique native plants and animals of the area. Our special guest presenters will talk about their experiences and deep connection to Country. You can grab a bite to eat at Audley Dance Hall cafe or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy.
