About this event
Join Council’s Strategic Bushfire Officer, Mark ‘Skippy’ Schuster for an insightful bushwalk. Learn how fire has shaped the local landscape as Mark shares the site’s fire history and explains how ecological processes respond to fire. He will also outline Ku-ring-gai Council’s approach to bushfire management, considering the protection of people, property and the environment. The walk includes a well-earned break to enjoy some damper and a cup of tea from The Showground Cafe!
This walk will take participants along the beautiful Showground fire trail to the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Gardens. Traversing a number of ecological communities, many with very restricted flora and fauna. Participants will learn about the complexities of managing biodiversity through balancing the ecological and asset protection considerations of urban fire management.

Bring: water bottle
The walk will go ahead in light rain, if more extreme weather is forecast, the walk will be rescheduled, attendees notified via email 24 hours prior.
