About this event

Proudly led by the Southern Highlands Branch, the Spring House & Garden Inspections tour will give you exclusive access to three stunning private properties in the Wingecarribee Shire.

With morning tea served on arrival at our 10:30am rendezvous, attendees will receive a briefing for the day, a comprehensive written history and description of our properties and some navigation guidance. Chat with our generous property owners as they reveal the stories of their house and gardens.

Itinerary:

  • 10:30am: Morning tea and tour – “Capernwray” in Burradoo. Born in Mansfield, Victoria in 1880, Mr Henry Talbot Sanderson was 56 years old and retired from his vast pastoral interests when he purchased 600 acres of land from Dr Charles Throsby in 1936 to breed cattle. Construction began before the Sanderson’s sailed on their grand tour of Europe in 1937. Some of the many treasures they purchased on the tour remain in the house today.
  • 12pm – 1:15pm: Lunch at your leisure. Suggestions included in the event brochure provided.
  • 1:30pm-2:30pm: Wildes Meadow. Admire this substantial equine property as you meander through the beautiful home garden lovingly tended over the past 20 years with lovely vistas across its rolling hills and valleys (Garden-only inspection; main house not open).
  • 2:45pm-3:45pm: Burrawang – View a most stylish 2013 Espie Dods-designed house in a delightful edge of-village setting, the land part of an early farm, now 30 acres with dense tree growth across its hilly and forested backdrop. Enjoy the quiet and the magical afternoon light shining through many mature native plantings at this beautiful and calm residence.

Tickets: Tickets include morning tea, self-driven tour and guide booklet.
