About this event

🧵 Boomerang Bags Riverstone – Learn to Sew & Repair Workshop
📅 Saturday, July 5th | 1pm – 4pm
📍 Riverstone RSL Sub Branch Hall – just a 5-minute walk from Riverstone Train Station (easy, direct train from the city!)

Join us for a creative, hands-on afternoon with Boomerang Bags Riverstone, where you’ll learn to sew, repair, and create reusable fabric bags from recycled materials that would otherwise end up in landfill.

This fun and beginner-friendly workshop is all about learning new sustainability skills, reducing waste, and getting crafty in a supportive community environment. Whether you’re a seasoned sewer or a total newbie, you’ll walk away with useful skills and a handmade bag (or two!) you can be proud of.

🪡 What You’ll Learn:

  • How to sew simple, reusable bags using upcycled fabric
  • Basic repair skills to extend the life of clothes and textiles
  • How community action can reduce waste and create positive change

Boomerang Bags is a global movement turning fabric waste into practical, reusable bags – all powered by volunteers. The goal? To cut down on single-use plastic and give textiles a second life, one stitch at a time.

👜 What to Bring:

Yourself and a positive, curious attitude
Spare fabric scraps or old textiles you’d like to donate or use (optional)
A reusable coffee cup or water bottle – let’s keep it low-waste!

🕐 Schedule:

Starts at 1pm, finishes by 4pm (or earlier if you’re done sewing and socialising)

No need to bring a sewing machine – all materials, tools, and guidance will be provided. Just come ready to learn and create!

All skill levels welcome – come solo or bring a friend. Let’s stitch together a better future!
