Tools for flood and severe storm impact assessments and forecasts in Switzerland
Abstract: At the Mobiliar Lab we develop tools to assess impacts of riverine and surface water floods. These tools can be used as scenarios for training purposes or for real-time or future risk assessments. In the scClim project, a collaborative project funded by the Swiss Science Foundation, a tool to quantify and predict hail-related impacts on buildings and agriculture was developed. All the tools were developed in close exchange and discussion with stakeholders to ensure that the tools are useful and understandable. I will present some of the tools, key findings scientific findings gained from the tools, and some insights gained from the exchange with the users.
