Mullets Clean Up Paddle

The popular Mullet clean up, Join a group of eco-warriors cleaning the Cooks River. All welcome—if you are passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Cooks River, please join us!

The festival marks the start of a season when thousands of mullet – known as ‘Wurridjal’ in Dharug – enter the Cooks River during their pre-spawning migration along the east coast of Australia. For thousands of years, the river was healthy and a source of food for Aboriginal people. Book via Eventbrite, as places are limited. We are a keen group who hit the water on time to collect as much litter and rubbish as we can. Lots of laughs and fun too. Dont forget to bring a hat, water, gloves ( rubber if you have) and shoes you dont mind getting wet n dirty.

We’re expecting sessions to be happening most weeks, subject to weather and leader availability. If due to adverse weather and/or leaders not being available, the session will typically be cancelled via eventbrite – so it’s just one of the many reasons to register first.

less experienced paddlers may be paired (preferably with another member of same household..)For your safety, less experienced paddlers will typically be paired up and head out in the double kayaks or canoes. There will be plenty of other sessions available, with more time/daylight available, for you to learn how to paddle the single kayaks if wish.
