About this event
Celebrate National Tree Day by getting hands-on with nature at our annual community planting event on Sunday 26 July at Brightmore Reserve, Cremorne.
This year’s planting will help to expand and protect adjoining bushland in Brightmore Reserve, part of the crucial Cremorne-to-Cammeray wildlife corridor. Volunteers will help create future habitat for native wildlife, including Powerful Owls, threatened microbats and towering gum trees.
Mayor Zoë Baker says: “National Tree Day is a fantastic opportunity for families to connect with nature, contribute to the regeneration of our local bushland, and create lasting memories. It’s a great first step into environmental volunteering for children – families can return year after year to see the trees they planted grow alongside their children.”
Part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, Australia’s largest community tree planting initiative, this event draws over 100 enthusiastic volunteers in North Sydney each year. Many of them are young families eager to make a difference.
All tools, plants and expert guidance will be provided by Council’s Bushland team.
Volunteers will be rewarded with a free BBQ sausage sizzle to celebrate their efforts.
