About this event

Bring the family and join BirdLife Australia for a fun day out in nature as we welcome back the amazing Bar-tailed Godwits! These endangered birds make an incredible journey, flying thousands of kilometres non-stop, to return to the Parramatta River foreshore every spring.

This is a great chance for kids and grown-ups to learn about one of nature’s most impressive travellers and get involved in real citizen science!

Help us count the Godwits and other wonderful birds in the area. Your sightings will be recorded in Birdata — a project that helps scientists monitor bird populations across the world.

Whether you’re an experienced birdwatcher or just discovering the joy of spotting wildlife, this event is a fun and hands-on way to connect with nature. Download the Birdata app now.

Kids can also get involved in the the Citizen Science Corner for the Feathered Friends of Five Dock. It’s a hands-on way to learn, explore, and contribute to local science.
