About this event

Did you know that the population of Blacktown City will increase to 644,000 by 2041? Our current water consumption is around 33 GL and by 2036 it is expected to reach 50GL, which is equivalent to 20,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools!

At this free workshop, learn from a rainwater tank expert about:

  • how to calculate the ideal size of your tank
  • the different components of a system
  • how to maintain your system
  • regulations governing installation and usage.

Did you know?

Capturing and storing rainwater from your home’s roof using a rainwater harvesting system can:

  • reduce your water bills
  • provide an alternative source during water restrictions
  • help maintain a healthy garden and lawn
  • decrease stormwater runoff from your property, helping to reduce flooding, erosion and pollution of local waterways.

Using rainwater can substantially reduce your household’s potable water use, helping to:

  • reduce the need for new dams or desalination plants
  • protect remaining environmental flows in rivers
  • reduce infrastructure operating costs.

Booking

This workshop is for Blacktown City residents ONLY and restricted to those over 16 years of age, places are limited and booking is essential. If it is booked out, your name will be put on a waitlist and we will contact you if a spot becomes available. If you are not a resident please do not book.

Ph 9 839 6055 or email [email protected] for more information.

To prepare for the workshop, please calculate the area of the roof you would like to collect rainwater from. The attached slide shows you how to do this using the NSW Government’s SIXmaps website.
