About this event
Animal testing and experimentation is not advancing human health.
Laboratory Animals need your voice, standing as silent witnesses to the unnecessary suffering on the secular alter of biomedical research.
Sacrificing animals is NOT necessary, and given the overall downhill trajectory of population health here in Australia over the past 30-40 years – it is of questionable value.
Whether we’re talking about obesity and attendant metabolic diseases, like diabetes or increasing incidence of cancer, autoimmune diseases or neurodevelopment disorders such as Autism, our collective population health is declining even as ever more expensive medical interventions are rolled out.
WE NEED HUMANE HUMAN RESEARCH to address human ill health. This entails a shift towards Animal Free Research, with 21st century technology. We can do it NOW.
Join us outside Royal Prince Alfred Hospital , a hospital who conducts xenotransplantation research, a process that involves transplanting animal organs into human patients. This research currently involves the use of primates and pigs that are specifically being bred for this purpose.
Join us in this solemn yet hopeful gathering to show that we value the lives and well-being of all sentient beings, and we believe in progress through compassion and innovation that does not harm animals.
The event will include opportunities to engage with the public who want to know more and to provide them with a flyer of information to help break the embedded belief that animals must be used in experiments. There are so many alternatives to the current cruel practices.
Hold a corflute, hand out a flyer and stand in solidarity for the animals who are affected by these experiments. Together, we can create a future where scientific advancements are made through animal-free experimentation.
As Jane Goodall said, “The greatest danger to our future is apathy. We cannot achieve our goals without the wisdom, resources, and energy of all the members of our global society. And particularly, we need the creative vision of young people.”
