About this event

Will’s talk explores the remarkable biodiversity in our local creeks, from a rare plant older than dinosaurs to alien underground crustaceans.

Focusing on citizen science, he’ll show how anyone can make a difference, from using bugs to measure your local creek’s water quality to saving baby turtles with supplies from Bunnings. Plus, he’ll share his experiences and tips for getting started as a young person in science.

Will is one of the first environmental science cadets with the Healthy Waterways Team at Blue Mountains City Council, and is researching native spiny crayfish, freshwater turtle conservation, and monitoring the health of waterways across the Blue Mountains, while completing his degree at Western Sydney University.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments provided.
