About this event

Join us at the Ryde Library for a day filled with fun and learning at our Sustainability Families Festival! Bring the whole gang for a day of eco-friendly activities, workshops, and games.

The program on the day includes:

Spaghetti Confetti: A Musical Extravaganza! – Spaghetti Confettti are back again to kick start our Sustainability Families Festival, with their fun-filled, interactive live show! the dynamic dueo will perform ultra-catchy and original tunes to get your whole family singing and dancing!

Banjo and Friends Scavenger Hunt – Can you find Banjo and his friends? They are hidden at each of the activity stations around the festival! Locate Banjo and his friends around the festival activity stations and be in the draw to WIN a prize pack!

Reusable Nappies Workshop | Bookings essential – Discover how you can live more sustainable by switching to reusable nappies! The session will guide parents with babies and toddlers on using reusable nappies and how to save money and reduce waste. Please visit this link to book.

Keep Australia Beautiful: Composting and Worm farming Workshop (for children ages 8yrs+) | Bookings essential – Explore how the maintain an organic waste recycling system to reduce food scraps and food waste. Explore the benefits of gardening for the environment, food systems and human health. Workshop has now booked out but please visit this link to be added to waitlist.

Keep Australia Beautiful: Garbage to Garden Workshop (for children ages 8yrs+) | Bookings essential – Explore the benefits of gardening for the environment, food systems and human health. Workshop has now booked out but please visit this link to be added to waitlist.

Waste Sorting Game – Test out your recycling skills! Think you know which bin to put your rubbish in? Visit the Waste stall to test your knowledge! Three small bins will be on display with clean rubbish items for everyone to test out their waste knowledge.

Engineers Without Borders Renewable Energy Table – Explore the importance of renewable sources focusing on harnessing wind energy. Understand sustainability and renewable energy by designing and building wind turbines in a team and test its efficiency.

Wonder of Waters Discovery Van – Visit Sydney Water’s Wonder of Waters Discovery Van that has been purpose built to deliver sustainability and water education to all communities. Use your own device at the AR wall to scan the code and journey through the Urban Water System. Help Jila the Playtpus and his friend filter clean water sourced from our oceans, catchments and dams. Spin the Global Discovery Wheel to see how other places around the world source their water.

Macquarie University Discovery Tables – Learn about living seawalls and how they support marine life. Discover how you can harness rewnewable energy sources through wind and solar. Get hands-on knowledge through STEM making with natural resources.

City of Ryde Bushcare – Discover the wonders of our local native plants and learn how you can make a difference for the environment. Join our dedicated Bushcare volunteers and contribute to the management and preservation of our natural areas. Get involved and help protect our local biodiversity!
