About this event

Join the Bat Count and Help the Park!

Sydney is home to one of the largest urban bat colonies, and our rangers need your help to monitor its flying-fox population. Tracking their numbers is essential for conservation efforts, and you can be part of this important work!

Gather your family and team up with our expert volunteers to learn how these fascinating creatures are counted. It’s a unique, hands-on experience that brings you closer to nature while making a real difference.

What will you do:

  • Hear fascinating facts and stories about one of the largest urban bat colonies
  • Help to count the bats
  • Enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the park

What to bring:

  • Enclosed & comfortable shoes
  • Warm clothing – it gets cold after dark!
  • Torch (ideally red light)
  • Camera (no flash)
  • Waterproof clothing in case of wet conditions, the walks run rain or shine
  • A sense of adventure
