About this event
Join us as we plant our first Tiny Forest at the West Pymble Village Green opposite the shops. The forest will use species found within the Sydney Turpentine Ironbark Forest (STIF), a critically-endangered ecological community in Ku-ring-gai.
Tiny Forests are densely-packed patches of local native bushland around the size of a tennis court. These urban wildlife oases have the potential to help us fight pollution and global warming while creating a place for community and school students to gather, learn about and interact with nature.
What to expect
Join us for a fun day of planting. No previous experience necessary. Friendly Earthwatch staff will be on hand to help and answer any questions.
Every participant will receive a small shovel to do their planting and take home with them!
Bush to Bowl a local First Nations social enterprise, will also be sharing knowledge about native plants and Caring for Country.
If you are keen on getting more involved, you can become a Tree Keeper and monitor the growth of the Tiny Forest into the future. This opportunity is perfect for nature enthusiasts who want to make a positive impact on their local environment. Register your interest on the day or email [email protected]
What to bring
Wear comfortable gardening clothes, closed shoes, hat, sunscreen and water bottle. Gloves and spades provided.
