Leaves and the Spaces Between

Step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and join us for a transformative three-hour workshop that will awaken your senses and unleash your creativity.

As you step into the natural bushland area of Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, you’ll embark on a meditative journey, quietly collecting fallen leaves, branches and capturing the essence of the environment through photography. It’s a moment of mindfulness, where you’ll sit, observe and absorb the colours, shapes, scents, feelings and sounds of nature.

Our journey will continue with a guided meditation carefully crafted to deepen your connection with the natural world, allowing you to be fully present in the moment.

We will then embark on an expressive painting adventure. Your brushstrokes will be a reflection of the sensory experience you’ve absorbed.

We’ll focus on the spaces between the leaves – the intriguing negative spaces – to craft a distinctive design. With opaque or transparent paint, you’ll fill in these spaces, leaving the leaves (or tree) as the vibrant, untamed layer that you began with.

Many beginners are amazed by what they can achieve and for more experienced artists this is a fun and dynamic way to explore the skills they already have and try something new…
