About this event
Join us at Hornsby Library for a relaxed and welcoming sewing, mending and repair group where you can work on your own projects, learn practical skills and connect with others who enjoy repairing, reusing and extending the life of their clothing.
The focus of this group is on repairing and refreshing existing items rather than creating new sewing projects. Bring along a garment that needs a little attention, whether it’s replacing a button, repairing a tear, fixing a hem, patching worn areas or making a simple alteration to help you get more wear from it.
Our volunteer sewing mentors will be available to offer guidance, tips and encouragement as you work at your own pace. No sewing experience is necessary. Don’t have a sewing machine at home? You’re welcome to use one of the library’s sewing machines during the session.
If you don’t have an item to mend, we’ll have simple repair and visible mending activities available to help you learn some useful techniques.
Enjoy a friendly and social environment while building practical skills, saving money, reducing textile waste and giving your clothes a longer life.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced sewer, everyone is welcome.
