About this event

Join us for a guided walk in beautiful Flat Rock Gully with Karen Smith from the Aboriginal Heritage Office.

Karen will discuss the local Indigenous history, culture and landscape features of the reserve, providing an opportunity to reflect and connect with the bush and pay respects to the oldest surviving living culture on the planet. The bushwalk covers some uneven ground.

Bushwalk details:

For those making their own way to the Reserve, please meet at the BBQ area, entering via Rembrandt Drive at 9:30am. Please refer to the Google map attached.

For those booking the bus pick-up, please meet inside the Dougherty Centre (7 Victor Street, Chatswood) at 9am. Bookings are required. After the walk, you will be driven back to the same pick-up point.

Upon arriving we will have a yarning circle for about 30 minutes at the BBQ area, where Karen will talk about Aboriginal culture and artifacts that she will have on the day.

The bushwalk will then start at 9:30am and end around 11am.

You must be fit enough to walk for 1 hour with some rest during the walk as required.

There will be some uneven surfaces. If you recently had surgery or have mobility issues, please consider whether this walk suitable for you.
Please ensure you have plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen.

A light morning tea will provided after the walk around 11am (tea, coffee and biscuits), for around 30 minutes.

For those travelling by the minibus, we’ll aim to be back at the Dougherty Centre by 12pm.

Suitable for adults only. No children or pets allowed.

These walks are very popular and there will be people on a waitlist. If you can no longer attend the walk, please cancel your ticket or email me so that others can attend.

There is a public toilet near the BBQ area. Please use the toilet before the walk as there are no other toilets available. For those using using minibus service, there is also a toilet at the Dougherty Centre that you can use.

Note: These walks are intended for the MOSAIC community groups, though spots to the public do open to th public if there are spots available.
