About this event

Don’t Toss It—Fix It!
Join our community of volunteer fixers and learn how to breathe new life into your broken household items. Our Repair Café is a free meeting place where you can repair things together with local experts. It’s a great way to reduce waste, save money, and meet your neighbors!
Where:
Living and Learning Centre
180 Longueville Road, Lane Cove, NSW 2066
🔧 What can I bring?
Our volunteers can help with a variety of repairs, including:
  • Electronics & Appliances: Toasters, kettles, lamps, and fans.
  • Clothing & Textiles: Mending, patching, and simple sewing repairs.
  • Small Furniture: Timber items and minor joinery.
  • General Household Items: Toys, jewelry, and more.
Please note: We cannot guarantee a fix for every item, and we do not repair items that use petrol engines or involve heavy welding.
💡 How it works
  1. Bring your item: Carry in your broken item (and any spare parts you think might be needed).
  2. Work with a fixer: Our volunteers will guide you through the repair process so you can learn the skills yourself.
  3. Enjoy a cuppa: While you wait or work, enjoy the community atmosphere.
  4. Free of charge: Repairs are free, though we appreciate small donations to help cover the cost of tools and materials!

You do not need to make a booking. Just turn up and you will be allocated a time slot between 2-4pm. We endeavour to fit in as many repairs as possible. To be fair on everyone please be aware of the number of items you bring. If you arrive after 3.30 we may not be able to complete your repair if we are busy.

Please note that for gadget/electrical repairs the last time slot is 3.30 as they can take a while to repair.

Last time slot for other items is 3.40pm.

The Repair Cafe is about breaking the cycle of buy, use, toss it out. Various items such as jewellery, ceramics, shoes, toys, clothes, zips, bags, umbrellas, small woodwork repairs, and household battery-operated and electrical items can be repaired.
