About this event

Join the Secret Garden & Nursery for hands on kids workshops at Savour the Flavour.

Meet some worms & learn about worm farming & the benefits they have on sustainable vegetable gardening.

You will get hands on and plant your very own edible plant, while learning about wicking garden beds.

Ensure to check the details below before booking. Each session caters for a different age group.

Session 1 (4:30-5:00pm): Ages 5-8 years

Play with worms! Demonstration of an established worm farm & get hands on with worms. Planting seeds into pots to take home while explaining how worm farm “Tea” can help the plants grow better.

Session 2 (5:30-6:00pm): Ages 5-8 years

Play with worms! Demonstration of an established worm farm & get hands on with worms. Planting seeds into pots to take home while explaining how worm farm “Tea” can help the plants grow better.

Session 3 (6:30-7:00pm): Ages 9-12 years

Hands on demonstration of a worm farm set up & meeting the worms. Hands on demonstration on vegetables that can be grown in a wicking bed & how a wicking bed works & can be set up. Planting a range of vegetables that can be grown to eat.

Session 4 (7:30-8:00pm): Ages 9-12 years

Hands on demonstration of a worm farm set up & meeting the worms. Hands on demonstration on vegetables that can be grown in a wicking bed & how a wicking bed works & can be set up. Planting a range of vegetables that can be grown to eat.

About The Secret Garden & Nursery

The Secret Garden is a not-for-profit ‘Community Hub’ situated on 15 acres at the Western Sydney University, Hawkesbury and managed by North West Disability Services (NWDS). They are located in Clydesdale Lane on the Western Sydney University campus, Richmond, NSW. The facilities utilise reverse integration to bring the community into an environment that supports a range of programs for people with a disability, school children, aged members of our community, students, volunteers and the whole community.

Visit and enjoy their peaceful rambling gardens, browse through a massive selection of plants for sale or just say hi to the resident chickens, guinea pigs, ducks and goats!
