About this event

The Bee squad offers fantastic projects, adventures and information on helping threatened species in your suburb, city and town. Woven throughout the book are inspiring stories of Aussie kids making a huge difference to their local environment – you don’t need to live near a national park or protected area to get involved.

Learn how to create a garden haven, be a nature sleuth or citizen scientist, how to make homes for pollinators, take brilliant photos of birds and insects, be an advocate and writing champion, cool your neighbourhood and more. You can do your bit from your balcony, backyard, local park or school. And lots of ‘bits’ make a big difference.

Join author Judy Friedlander for an engaging, interactive author talk where she’ll share and explore these topics with you. Some of the activities will include:

designing a special habitat haven
writing an advocacy letter about your environmental cause
finding the five Blue-banded bees
playing the matching game: match the pollinator to the plant, colour and food they help produce.

Suitable for ages 8-12 years.
