About this event
Managing properties for conservation includes removal of weed threats which can overcome and deplete native species.
The property ‘Thornbill’ comprises Shale-Gravel Transition Forest and Alluvial Woodland but, upon take up by Cumberland Land Conservancy Inc was dominated by the weed species African Love Grass.
Funding from the Commonwealth Government and management for the first two years by Conservation Volunteers Australia saw primary weeding bring the African Love Grass under control.
Our volunteer efforts at weed control will be essential to keep the weed control momentum going so we have settled on the fourth Saturday morning of each month for qualified supervision of those who wish to contribute their energy to this conservation effort.
Come along. meet friends of a similar conservation mind, have fun and contribute to protecting this refuge for fauna and ecological communities. Tools and resources provided.
Wear suitable clothing, hat, enclosed shoes, sun screen and bring water to drink. We hope to provide something of a snack at conclusion of work.
