Plastic Free July

Break Free from Plastic: Get Ready to Make Waves this Plastic Free July!

Plastic Free July is back, and it's time to make a change!

This global movement is tackling the massive problem of plastic pollution head-on.

Every year, a mind-boggling 150 million tonnes of plastic is used and tossed away, enough to circle the Earth four times! Sadly, a significant portion ends up in our oceans, harming both the environment and precious wildlife. Sea turtles and sea birds are being impacted, with plastic found in their habitats.

Plastic Free July is  an annual event that provides resources and ideas to help us reduce single-use plastic waste everyday.  It started as a little grassroots movement in Western Australia in 2011 and has grown into a global movement. This year, Plastic Free July will see millions of people around the world pledge to be more aware and reduce our use of plastics.

By participating in Plastic Free July, individuals have already reduced household waste by an average of 76 kilograms per year, contributing to a staggering total saving of 490 million kilograms of plastic waste annually.

Small changes, big difference!

Let’s get ready to ditch those single-use plastics and embrace a sustainable lifestyle with these quick and snappy tips!

  • Bring your own eco-friendly cup when you grab your favorite takeaway coffee.
  • Swap plastic wrap for reusable containers to pack your delicious lunch.
  • Say no to plastic bags and choose loose produce instead of pre-packaged ones.
  • Always carry canvas or cloth bags for shopping and make them easily accessible by placing them in front of your front door.
  • Opt for venues that offer plastic-free delivery options or bring your own containers for takeaway meals.
  • Stay hydrated on the go by using a stainless steel water bottle and filling it up from the tap.
  • Keep an eye out for products with plastic-free packaging during your supermarket visits.
  • Wrap your leftovers using beeswax wraps (you can even make your own) or store them in glass jars or containers.

Every little effort counts!
