About this event
Nature Therapy Walk
Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. This guided immersion in nature experience will boost your health and well-being by encouraging you to savour the wide open spaces, breathe in the fresh air and listen to the bird song.
Forest Therapy is an evidence based preventative health practise inspired by Shinrin-Yoku (Japanese for forest bathing). With its series of sensory and creative activities this gentle guided walk will encourage slowing down, de-stressing and re-connecting with nature.
Relaxing and enjoyable, Forest Therapy is beneficial for both your mind and body. Research reveals direct benefits include lowering of blood pressure, reduced levels of the stress hormone (cortisol), reduced anxiety, increased positive mood, enhanced energy levels and better concentration.
The walk is leisurely, approximately 1 km long and will finish with a Tea Ceremony, including light refreshments. The trail is mostly flat, although there is one section with an uphill gradient and uneven surface. It is suitable for people with a low fitness level and average mobility.
Please note: This activity is not suitable for wheelchairs and may not be suitable for people with mobility issues as there are a few steps along the path. The activity is not suitable for primary-school children (under the age of 12).
